2-Channel System

For a basic Karaoke system used in a small room, it has two channels (i.e. left and right speakers) for the music and vocal to mix together. Music tone can be adjusted to low, mid and high frequencies.

3-Channel System

The new 3-channel Karaoke System is different from the old-fashioned 2-channel system. The microphone vocal signal comes from the center speaker while the music source comes from the left and right main speakers. Since the vocal and music sources separate, it can control the feedback, distortions and noises.

4-Channel System

A 4-Channel Karaoke system is quite similar to that of the 2-Channel Karaoke system. The only difference is that the 4-Channel Karaoke system uses two different pairs of speakers (i.e. Group A speakers and Group B speakers) to enhance the effect. Group A speakers have a bigger woofer to produce stronger bass. Group B speakers have a smaller woofer to produce crystal-clear vocal sound. The 4-Channel Karaoke system can give better performance in a large room.

5-Channel System

The basic idea of a 5-Channel Karaoke system borrows from a home theater system. In a 5-Channel Karaoke system, the main speakers (i.e. left and right speakers) produce the music source. The center speaker produces the crystal-clear vocal sound. The rear speakers (also left and right speakers) produce the mid-range frequencies. Therefore, this system can produce superior sound quality for music and vocal mixing, which is important for Karaoke singing. On the other hand, the regular speakers of a home theater system cannot drive the vocal sound effectively. For high pitch singing from a microphone, it may damage the regular speakers of a home theater system. It is because vocal singing requires tremendous power from the speakers and microphones. Singing with a 5-Channel Karaoke system gives you a feeling of singing in live concert.

What is KTV?

Today the people in North America are always confused with the difference between Karaoke and KTV.

Karaoke originates from Japan in the 1980s. It is a kind of singing entertainment in which singer(s) can sing the songs with background music only. Karaoke consists of two Japanese words: 揔ara?means empty and 揙kesutora?means orchestra.

KTV is a kind of nightclub that provides Karaoke singing for customers. In a KTV club, people are free to sing songs with the Karaoke machine. As compared to a regular nightclub or bar in North America , only the singer(s) and the live band do the performance. Customers are just enjoying the performance of the artists. They seldom join the artists in singing and perform together. On the other hand, in a KTV club, customers feel free to select songs for Karaoke singing, so they can go to the stage to perform solo or group singing.

Karaoke makes singing fun and easy. In Karaoke singing, a singer actually sings with a Karaoke machine which replaces a live band or orchestra. Everyone can sing Karaoke. The singer does not need to memorize the song lyrics because he or she can look at a television (or a video monitor) and see the song lyrics and just follow the tempo of the song for singing. Therefore, everyone can be a pop star and perform in a small concert by singing Karaoke. One more big advantage for singing Karaoke is that singer does not need to hire a live band for the background music and performance.

Karaoke is indeed an Asian culture. KTV clubs are very popular in Asia . People from all walks of life in Asia go to KTV clubs. KTV clubs are big business in Asia . They provide great entertainment for people of all ages who love singing. Karaoke brings people together, especially for Asians who love to meet in a central location and sing. Therefore, Karaoke is excellent for social functions such as company party and wedding banquet. By singing Karaoke, they can share the joy of singing with their friends and family. It has been thirty years since the invention of Karaoke from Japan in 1980s, Karaoke is still the most popular entertainment and culture in Asia .

Some investors in Asia invest lots of money in KTV club business and make it a big business. For this reason, there are many super-size KTV clubs in the major cities in Asia such as Tokyo , Singapore , Shanghai , Beijing and Macau . The KTV clubs run like a big business enterprise. In a super-size KTV club, besides Karaoke entertainment, these clubs have restaurants serving buffets for over 1,000 people and they also have over 200 luxurious VIP private rooms for Karaoke. The scale of these clubs can be comparable to that of the top hotel casinos in Las Vegas .
